I have decided to put some of my old notes on line, because I think some of them have more than historical interest. I haven't time or energy to make them into proper html files, so they are mostly just text files. I haven't even taken the trouble to remove the page information used with the old Stanford Artificial Intelligence text editor E (written by Dan Swinehart).
EFFECTIVE INTERACTIVE USE OF LARGE CHARACTER SETS is a 1981 memo adapted for TeX in 1989. It was never published or made into a report, because I intended to improve it. I may put a few 2004 notes in it.
Send comments to mccarthy@stanford.edu. I sometimes make changes suggested in them. - John McCarthy
